The Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS) provides the global database of marine biological observations and measurements linked with environmental data. This analysis uses the geographic areas (exclusive economic zones) summarized by OBIS and uses the OBIS Application Programming Interface.This provisional Biogeographic Analysis Package summarizes the most reported species within each exclusive economic zone observed and reported to the OBIS. The numbers reported are actual presence observations, meaning the absence records are excluded from the summary. Species were compiled by scientific name and aggregated by the class level of the taxonomic hierarchy for summarization purposes.

In 1998, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Fisheries Independent Monitoring (FIM) program began a long-term monitoring effort of key reef fish populations in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. ThThe purpose of the Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (CREMP) is to monitor the status and trends of selected reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary(FKNMS). CREMP assessments have been conducted annually at fixed sites since 1996 and data collected provides information on the temporal changes in benthic cover and diversity of stony corals and associated marine flora and fauna. The South Florida Fish and Invertebrate Assessment Network (FIAN) is a monitoring project within the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
