This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the region surrounding the Wet Mountains of southern Colorado, including parts of Custer and Fremont Counties. Data for this survey were collected by Sander Geophysics Limited International (SGL) under contract with the USGS. The survey was flown in June and July of 2021 using a helicopter equipped with a magnetometer mounted in a stinger extending from the nose of the aircraft and a gamma-ray spectrometer stowed onboard. The helicopter pilots followed pre-planned flight paths in a grid-like pattern, with east-west lines spaced 150 meters apart and north-south lines spaced 1,000 meters...

Elevation-bathymetry models for the Lake Superior region

New land-bathymetry and land-lake surface elevation models were produced for the Lake Superior region. The models combine Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) topography data with lake surface elevation and bathymetry data sets for Lakes Superior, Michigan, and Huron. The SRTM data set was chosen because it spans the international border and has relatively high resolution at 30 m cell size. These data were subsequently used for aeromagnetic data processing and gravity data reduction.

Data release for a paleomagnetic age estimate for the draining of ancient Lake Alamosa, San Luis Valley, south-central Colorado, U.S.A.

Samples, sample depths, paleomagnetism, and magnetic susceptibility parameters are recorded for BP-3-USGS well, San Luis Valley, Southwestern Colorado.

Airborne Geophysical Survey Inventory of the Conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (ver. 4.0, April 2023) (Under Revision)

Note: this data release is currently being revised and is temporarily unavailable. This data release is a compilation of the locations of airborne geophysical surveys in the United States. The inventory documents public airborne geophysical surveys primarily flown by or contracted by the USGS from 1943 to present. In addition, surveys from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (DGGS): Airborne GeophysWeb, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Energy and other state agencies have also been included. Updated gravity stations and anomaly compilation over Lake Superior

New gravity compilation has been compiled for the Lake Superior region. The gravity compilation includes survey stations available from Natural Resources Canada, National Centers for Environmental Information (formerly National Geophysical Data Center), Minnesota Geological Survey, and U.S. Geological Survey. Individual databases were combined and duplicates were removed resulting in a database of 63,880 gravity stations. The gravity station data were reprocessed from observed gravity to simple Bouguer anomaly following standard methods that depend on the station type (for example, land, lake surface, or lake bottom observation) and used a reduction density of 2,670 kg/m3.
