This is a temporary community space for submitting metadata records not associated with a USGS Trusted Digital Repository to the USGS Science Data Catalog.
These four tables document the data used to draw the findings in the manuscript “Measuring sustainability of seed-funded Earth science informatics projects,” by Hsu et al. Table 1, “ListProjects-data” lists the projects funded by the Community for Data Integration from 2010-2016. Table 2, “Outputs-data” lists the deliverables that were proposed and delivered to the Community for Data Integration from 2010-2016, and notes if they were still accessible or sustained at the time of this study (December 2018). Table 3, “Influences-and-Sustainabiltiy-data” lists the projects and the sustainability influences examined in this study, as well as if the project achieved individual-level or organizational-level sustainability....

In 2022, publication and data linkages were evaluated using two methods in an effort to understand how a data citation workflow has been implemented by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) since the 2016 USGS instructional memorandum, Public Access to Results of Federally Funded Research at the U.S. Geological Survey: Scholarly Publications and Digital Data (USGS OSQI, 2016), went into effect, requiring USGS data be assigned a DOI, be accompanied by a citation, and be referenced from the associated publication (USGS OSQI, 2017). This data release includes data and publication structural metadata results retrieved from the USGS DOI Tool and Crossref APIs and Jupyter notebooks used to process and analyze the results.

In 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Science Data Management Team distributed four surveys related to Data Management Plans (DMPs) and Data Management Planning to USGS researchers, data managers and information technologists, Center Directors, and Program Coordinators and Bureau Approving Officials. This data release includes survey results with redactions (to allow survey participants to remain anonymous), and the Jupyter Notebooks used to process and analyze results.
ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
