An aerial moose (Alces alces) population survey was completed on Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge and the northeast corner of Game Management Unit 12 from 4 – 11 November 2004. We estimated the population at 1,272 moose for the 7,651 km2 (2,954 mi2 ) survey area. Overall density was 0.17 moose/ km2 (0.43 moose /mi2 ). The estimated ratios of bulls, yearling bulls, and calves per 100 cows were 69.8, 16.2, and 47.8, respectively. Bulls made up 31.9 % of the population, cows 45.8%, and calves 21.9
