These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This dataset represents point locations and flow characteristics for current (as of November 20, 2001) and historical U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in the conterminous United States. The flow characteristics were computed from the daily streamflow data recorded at each streamgage for the period of record. The attributes associated with each streamgage include: Station number Station name Station latitude (decimal degrees...

This metadata record describes a raster of unique PRISM (Parameter-elevation Relationships on Independent Slopes Model) identifier (PRISMID) values. The data are in ESRI's ArcInfo ASCII raster format, a non-proprietary text interchange format. PRISM climate data produced by the PRISM group at Oregon State University, such as time series of monthly precipitation and temperature, can be linked to the raster via the unique PRISMID values. In addition, model-estimated water budget components--including runoff (streamflow per unit area), evapotranspiration, snowfall and soil moisture storage--can be linked to the PRISM raster.

This metadata record provides the latitude, longitude, and a unique ID value (PRISMID) for all raster cells used by the PRISM group at Oregon State University to characterize climate throughout the conterminous United States. The three column format of comma-separated data can be readily joined to the comma-separated climate and water-balance variables described in the associated metadata file "Water Balance Model Inputs and Outputs for the Conterminous United States".

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This digital data release consists of an ARC/INFO grid and associated INFO tables. The grid is called MUID and has STATSGO (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1994) soil mapping unit identifiers gridded on a 1-kilometer resolution for the conterminous United States. The INFO tables have soil characteristics data in them. The ITEMS in the tables are weighted average values for several soil characteristics in the STATSGO data base. The...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Hydrologic landscape regions (HLRs) in the United States were delineated by using geographic information system (GIS) tools and statistical methods including principal components and cluster analyses. The GIS and statistical analyses were applied to land-surface form, geologic texture (permeability of the soil and bedrock), and climate variables that describe the physical and climatic setting of 43,931 small (roughly 200 square kilometers)...
