Multi Order Hydrologic Position (MOHP) raster datasets: Distance from Stream to Divide (DSD) and Lateral Position (LP) have been produced nationally for the 48 contiguous United States at a 30-meter resolution for stream orders 1 through 9. These data are available for testing as predictor variables for various regional and national groundwater-flow and groundwater-quality statistical models. The concept behind MOHP is that for any given point on the earth’s surface there is the potential for longer and longer groundwater flow paths as one goes deeper and deeper beneath the land surface. These increasing depths correspond to increasing stream orders. Or in other words, with increasing depth these paths of groundwater...

The bathymetric data set was collected in Rock Run on Dec. 10, 2015 by USGS ILWSC staff Clayton Bosch and Louis Pappas. The bathymetric data were collected with an RD Instruments 1200 kHz ADCP (S/N 8617) and Trimble Ag 162 GPS mounted on the M/V La Moine. A temporary reference point (TRP) was established on the north side of the footbridge over the connecting channel to the Des Plaines River. The mean water surface elevation (504.97 feet, WGS 84) during the survey was established from a temporary reference point whose elevation was later established by GPS survey. The measured depths were then converted to a lake bed elevation. The location and depth data were compiled into a bathymetry dataset (Rock Run Bathymetry...

These data are single-beam bathymetry points compiled in comma separated values (CSV) file format, generated from a hydrographic survey of the northern portion of Lake Calumet in Cook County, Illinois. Hydrographic data were collected July 18-19, 2023, using a single-beam echosounder (SBES) integrated with a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Surface water elevation data were collected July 18 utilizing a single-base real-time kinematic (RTK)/GNSS unit. Bathymetric data points were collected as the vessel traversed the northern portions of the lake along overlapping survey lines. The SBES internally collected and stored the depth data from the echosounder and the horizontal...

In 2024, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in collaboration with the Cook County Bureau of Technology (BOT), carried out comprehensive hydrographic and water-quality surveys, and activity and disturbance assessments of 44 total water bodies encompassing lakes and rivers within Cook County, Illinois. These surveys and assessments describe the bathymetry, water-quality conditions, and on-site field crew observations and impressions for each water body and its surrounding catchment area. Data collected may assist the BOT with resource management decisions and practices and contribute to an inventory that can be shared with other local governmental agencies. Included in this data release are bathymetric, water quality,...
