These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set describes ground-water regions in the United States defined by the U.S. Geological Survey. These ground-water regions are useful for dividing the United States into areas of roughly similar hydrologic characterstics and water-use patterns. Most of these regions are very generalized and were developed from a illustration published at a scale of approximately 1:20 million. The data set also includes polygon features for...

This data set describes water use in counties in the conterminous United States in 1995. This data set can be used to look at spatial patterns of water use. U.S. county boundaries were developed at a scale of approximately 1:2 million.

This data set is a subset of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Envirofacts point data set which includes facilities included in the the Toxic Release Inventory. Information on total pounds of volatile organic compounds released in 1995 (from USEPA's Toxic Release Inventory CD-ROM) has been included.

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete.
