Cassiterite (SnO2), a main ore mineral in tin deposits, was collected by multiple Russian geologists or obtained from museum collections in both the USA and Russia and dated at the U.S. Geological Survey. The dated samples represent four different mining districts spanning the entire country from the village of Pitkäranta in the west (31° E Longitude) to the Merekskoe Deposit in the Russian Far East (134°E Longitude). The samples were recovered from a variety of host deposit types that range from the Proterozoic to Phanerozoic. Cassiterite (in the form of mounted loose grains) was prepared and analyzed for direct age dating on a laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) system at the...

This dataset accompanies the publication, 'In situ LA-ICPMS U-Pb dating of cassiterite without a known-age matrix-matched reference material: Examples from worldwide tin deposits spanning the Proterozoic to Tertiary', published in Chemical Geology (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chemgeo.2018.03.008), which reports a LA-ICPMS analytical procedure for dating cassiterite, a main ore mineral in tin deposits, with no need for an independently dated matrix-matched cassiterite standard.

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Paleogene mid-crustal intrusions in the Ruby Mountains Metamorphic Core Complex, northeastern Nevada' [IP-153033], to be published in Geosphere, as well as planned future publications in this region. The data encompass U-Pb zircon age and trace element data and whole-rock Pb, Sr, and Nd isotopic data from igneous and metamorphic rocks throughout the Ruby Mountains, East Humboldt Range, Lizzies Basin, Lamoille Canyon, and Angel Lake areas of northeast, Nevada. Samples were collected from this area by Allen McGrew (Univ. of Dayton), Arthur Snoke (Univ. of Wyoming), Wayne Premo (USGS) and Keith Howard (USGS), who brought them to the USGS Denver for analysis. The analyses...

Cassiterite (SnO2) samples were collected from alluvial ore concentrate from the Abu Dabbab Granite in eastern Egypt. Samples (in the form of mounted loose grains) were prepared and analyzed for direct age dating on a laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICPMS) system at the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver, Colorado in February 2019. This data release accompanies the publication, 'Monazite and cassiterite U-Pb dating of the Abu Dabbab rare-metal granite, Egypt: Late Cryogenian metalliferous granite magmatism in the Arabian-Nubian Shield.' (Lehmann and others, 2020). The publication constrains the timing of the magmatic-hydrothermal processes of the Abu Dabbab Granite which represents...
