The Utah Geological Survey (UGS), a division of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, provides timely scientific information about Utah's geologic environment, resources, and hazards. The UGS is the primary public organization in Utah that actively collects and manages various geologic information, data, and sample resources of Utah, is charged in state code (Section 79-3-202) for these activities, and is the only Utah organization dedicated to provide geologic reports, publications, maps, and data; significant, state-wide coverage of historical aerial photography; and related data online.
