Affordable, Integrated Access and Delivery of U.S. Government Satel lite and Geospatial Data to the American Public The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is a leader in collecting and archiving geospatial data and information about the Earth and in distributing this information to educational institutes; local, State, and Federal agencies; private industry; and the public. The idea of providing easy, reliable access to geospatial data is the driving principle behind the USGS's efforts to develop an integrated information access and delivery capability. The Ohio View Consortium is a group of universities, colleges, K-12 schools, libraries, and local and State government agencies in the State of Ohio working with the...

The LANDFIRE fuel data describe the composition and characteristics of both surface fuel and canopy fuel. Specific products include fire behavior fuel models, canopy bulk density (CBD), canopy base height (CBH), canopy cover (CC), canopy height (CH), fuel characterization classification system (FCCS), and fuel loading models (FLMs). These data may be implemented within models to predict the behavior and effects of wildland fire. These data are useful for strategic fuel treatment prioritization and tactical assessment of fire behavior and effects.DATA SUMMARY: The LANDFIRE fuel loading model (FLM) classification system is based on unique sets of fuel characteristics that simplify the input of fuel loadings into fire...

The Federal Interagency Sedimentation Project (FISP) was created in 1939 to unify and standardize the research and development activities of Federal agencies involved in fluvial sediment studies1,2. Research and development conducted by the FISP originally focused on hydraulic and mechanical aspects of sediment sampling. The mission of the FISP has expanded to provide, identify, and evaluate tools and techniques for accurate, standardized, calibrated, cost-efficient, and safe measurement and analysis of sediment properties and transport. FISP activities focus on measurement and analysis of suspended sediment, bedload sediment, bed material, bed topography, adsorbed constituents, sediment characteristics, and water...

ScienceBase brings together the best information it can find about USGS researchers and offices to show connections to publications, projects, and data. We are still working to improve this process and information is by no means complete. If you don't see everything you know is associated with you, a colleague, or your office, please be patient while we work to connect the dots. Feel free to contact sciencebase@usgs.gov.
