These data depict littoral cells along the West Coast of the United States, as polygon extents across the shoreline of Washington, Oregon, and California. A littoral cell is a reach of the coast that is isolated sedimentologically from adjacent coastal reaches and that features its own sources and sinks. Isolation is typically caused by protruding headlands, submarine canyons, inlets and some river mouths that prevent littoral sediment from one cell to pass into the next (Beachapedia). The data are a compilation of existing data sources from Washington Department of Ecology (WDOE), Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP), and California Coastal Sediment Management Workgroup (CSMW).
