Project Organization Evolution
The first version of PRMS was developed by scientists the USGS's National Research Program (NRP) and Office of Surface Water for the Water Mission Area (WMA). The PRMS evolved to become the Modular Modeling System (MMS), which allowed the selection of process representation from a suite of modules. The MMS was incorprated as part of the PRMS starting with version 3.0, which has been continually improved. The development team, under the MoWS project, expanded to develop of a national-extent framework for application of the PRMS and the MWBM, including the Geospatial Fabric and the ability to pull and run subset local models from the national framework. In 2017, the NHM development team moved to the Integrated Modeling and Prediction Division within the WMA.
