An Internet Exchange Point (IXP) is a physical infrastructure that allows different Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to exchange Internet traffic between their networks by means of mutual peering agreements, allowing traffic to be exchanged with increased efficiency and speed. Internet exchange points are also known as Network Access Points (NAPs) or Metropolitan Area Exchanges (MAEs).
