Starting in 1994, New Jersey Geological Survey drilled these vibracores in support of NJDEP beach nourishment projects and offshore geologic studies. These vibracores serve as ground-truth for marine seismic data; characterization of specific sand; or correlations. NJGS retains both the sampled and archive halves of the core in 5-ft lengths.
