Sand and Gravel Pebble Counts

Summary

A statewide investigation of the sand and gravel resources on a county by county basis were conducted in the 1970 and 1980¿s by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey (Survey). Nine published Survey Report of Investigations and unpublished data for additional counties were generated by the end of this project in the late 1980¿s. Large samples collected from field locations, measured sections and core borings were returned to the laboratory for sieving. All cobbles and pebbles greater than ½ inch in diameter were identified and counted. Results are presented in this database and additional details are available from the DGS Report of Investigations.
