Core collection is stored in two separate warehouse areas managed by the Louisiana Geological Survey. The different core types are mixed but the bulk of the collection is stored on Louisiana State University campus with limited access by appointment.
The collection is estimated to include 5900 boxes. Of these boxes, 3700 contain approximately 9 feet lengths of core material. The other 2200 boxes include 3 feet lengths of rock cores.
