THE DESERT SHREW, Notiosorex crawfordi, IN SOUTH-CENTRAL UTAH. -Armstrong and Jones (7972) reviewed previous literature on the desert shrew (Notiosorex crawfordi) and noted its wide distribution in the southwestern and south-central United States and in northern and central Mexico (see also Peterson 1976, and Kasper and Jones 1977). Durrant's (1952) prediction that the desert 536 shrew occurred in southern Utah was first verified by Wauer's (1965) specimen from Zion National Park, and later by another individual taken by Turkowski and Brown (1969) about 80 km southwest of Zion National Park.
