In October 2011, the Department of the Interior announced the selected location for the Department of the Interior's Pacific Islands Climate Science Center (PI CSC) as the University of Hawai'i, Manoa in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Along with the University of Hawai'i, Manoa, the University of Hawai'i, Hilo and the University of Guam are consortium partners for the PI CSC. The PI CSC also receives advice and guidance from a Stakeholder Advisory Council. Science priorities and projects will also be advised by a Science Implementation Panel.
The PI CSC will be part of a network of eight CSCs created to provide scientific information, tools, and techniques that managers and other parties interested in land, water, wildlife and cultural resources can use to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate change.
