Summary

Album caption: Bluffs of Cambrian sandstone (Higher bluff capped with Lower Magnesian limestone) on the Wisconsin River, opposite prairie du Sac, Wis. These bluffs are at the extreme edge of the glaciated area. Round Bluff, in the foreground, is driftless. The edge of the drift may be traced up the long point of the bluff at the left, looping back to the westward about 80 rods on the flat top of thebluff, thence down the long point of the bluff on the right. Morainal and outwash gravels were deposited about the lower slopes on the left and right. Outwash terrace wellshown on the right, rising to an elevation about 150 feet above the river. The river has out its post-glacial channel to a depth of from 100 to 150 feet in the outwash [...]
