Polished vertical section of a compound algal head consisting of many small heads, each of which represents a single colony of Chlorellopsis coloniata Reis., these minor bands rest upon a zone of spongy algal deposit, which is separated from another similar zone below by a finely banded inorganic agate like zone; natural size. Specimen is from Tipton tongue of Green River formation in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec. 16, T.24 N., R. 102 W. Sweetwater County, Wyoming. 1923. Plate 44-A in U.S. Geological Survey.
