Album Caption: Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Yellowish-orange rinds on these stones of dark gray volcanic rocks are the result of weathering over a long period of time. Weathered rinds like these, but about half as thick, are present on stones near the surface of the Hayden Creek Drift. Circa 1967. Pierce County, Washington.
