Interbedded volcanic sandstone and siltstone (dark) of the Ohanapecosh Formation, viewed from the east side of Backbone Ridge. Note the prominent ripple marks in the upper half of the photograph, the load casts of sandstone bulging downward into siltstone (upper center and at the base of the stratum partly obscured by a dark stain), and abundant flattened pumice lapilli in the sandstone bed extending across the center.
