Lake Ontario. Lakeshore near Wilson, New York, viewed from the end of a pier. Shore drift transported by the waves, from right to left, accumulates against the pier. On the opposite (east) side of the pier the defect of shore drift exposes the till to comparatively rapid erosion. 1898. Photos ggk01799 and ggk1779a form a panorama.
