Album caption: Jackson, W. H. 4 - Sherman Station, upon the broad, plateau-like summit of the Black Hills, 8,271 feet above the sea, and 2,196 feet above Cheyenne, only 33 miles to the eastward. Sherman, named in honor of the commander of the United States Armies, enjoys the distinction of being the most elevated railway-station in the United States. Albany County, Wyoming. 1869.
