H. 862, jwh00862) Personal email communication from Alan Terrell on February 11, 2021, "On August 21, 1870 Jackson accompanied several others to Box Elder Canyon south of the North Platte River. Jackson took images jwh00271, jwh00272, jwh00863 and jwh01491. Here is Jackson's supporting diary entry, '(22m) by road- about 40 by side trips. With Dr. Elliott, Turnbull, Ford, Gifford and Rapheal to long side-trip up Box Elder to where it comes thro" the hills in deep canyons. Remarkably fine. Securing the views...'
