Summary

Colorado National Monument, Colorado. Lizard Canyon Monocline, looking southeastward across Lizard Canyon and the north entrance of Monument Canyon from a point on Rim Rock Drive. Note the sharp upper bend on the right and the gentle lower bend on the left. Strata range from Chinle Formation in the canyon on the right to Burro Canyon Formation capping the low hogback on the left. Circa 1950. Figure 33, U.S. Geological Survey Professional paper 451.
