Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Lower part of Nisqually Glacier. About 130 years ago, the glacier extended about 600 feet below the bridge and filled the valley from wall to wall. The terminus could not have been beyond a point above the bridge when Lt.A.V. Kautz saw it in 1857. The glacier has since retreated to its present position. September 22, 1966.
