Part of cross section of nodule-bed specimen. Specimen from locality pictured in photo no. tah00033. Most of the ooids are replaced with pyrite. The veins in the nodules are filled mostly with pyrite that extends into the matrix. Calcite incorporates pyrite in some parts of the veins, and some of the pyrite has altered to gypsum. The light-gray mineral surrounding fragments at the lower left of the nodule is pyrite. Custer County, South Dakota, ca. 1967. Published as figure 7 in U. S. Geological Survey.
