Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Lower part of Nisqually Glacier as seen from station 5. With respect to its 1954 condition (photo vfm00025), the glacier now is 9 feet (3 meters) thinner at its upper portion, 12 feet (4 meters) thicker lower down in the glacier, and 70 feet (21 meters) thicker at the lower portion of glacier. The stagnant ice terminus now is visible at the lower left. Fresh, white ice has nearly obscured the debris-covered ice ridge opposite the nunatak near the left (west) edge of the glacier.
