San Fernando Earthquake, February 9, 1971, 6:01am PST. (Roll 10, Frame 10). View south along GOLDEN STATE FREEWAY (HIGHWAY 5), interchange complex in foreground on HIGHWAYS 5 and 14 (PALMDALE FREEWAY) was under construction. The overpasses wwere incomplete at the time of the quake and did not collapse. Interchange of HIGHWAYS 5 AND 210 (FOOTHILL FREEWAY) in middleground was completed but not yet in use. In incurrred extensive damage. Upper and lower Van Norman Reservoirs at upper right. White line of hill left of freeway is pipeline of the L.A. Aqueduct. The lines pass under freeway and lead in to power house at Upper Van Norman Reservoir. Feb 11, 1971.
