Summary

This is one of the cuestas that was used as a type locality by Billings in his discussion of strip thrusts. See his article, "Thrusting Younger Rocks Over Older," in the American Journal of Science. View is eastward. Beds of Green River strata dip westward but locally are overturned and dip eastward. Distant high peak in center of photo is Musinia Peak, composed of Flagstaff limestone. Vertical beds of Colton and Flagstaff appear beneath a detachment block of the Green River Formation in small valley near left edge of photo. Exposure is Secs. 17, 18, 19, 20, T. 21 S., R. 1 E.
