Summary

Industrial mineral site no. 806, known as "Chewelah" is a site in Stevens County, Washington. This site has been associated with mineral pigments. A notation found in DGER Bulletin 37 on page 64 says "Samples of ocher and red pigment from a 70-ft. deposit. Fe2O3 content is 2.5 to 26.4 percent", and designates the value as "Tinting strength too weak for general use but may have local value".
