Industrial mineral site no. 1470, known as "Steptoe Butte" is a site in Whitman County, Washington. This site has been associated with quartzite. A notation found in DGER Bulletin 37 on page 94 says "Quartzite, containing a little mica and iron oxide", and designates the value as "Possible source of silica".
