Summary

Background/Overview Documenting and understanding the occurrence of wetland loss and shoreline erosion from Hurricane Sandy will provide for effective planning, mitigation, and restoration activities. The analysis proposed here will use multiple dates of satellite data to track landscape changes within the coastal zone affected by Hurricane Sandy. This analysis will be similar to a methodology utilized to assess wetland change in coastal Louisiana detailed in USGS SIM 3164 ( http://pubs.usgs.gov/sim/3164/). Documenting the trajectories of change can be aided considerably with the use of remotely sensed monitoring.
