These data are intended to help partners of the National Fish Habitat Partnership (NFHP) discover existing aquatic monitoring sites through the NFHP Data System, in hopes to increase awareness and collaboration of existing efforts. This dataset is a static view of data that was available on December 2014. To access the most recent collection of monitoring sites please visit the Monitoring Explorer at https://www.monitoringresources.org/Sites/Explorer/Index. The Monitoring Site Manager is a web-based tool that provides geographic locations of monitoring activities linked with information about who is carrying out the activities and what is being monitored. The idea is that this "Explorer" would exist within the Monitoring Site Manager and would provide information associated with project sites from multiple organizations in one online resource so users wouldn't have to search through a variety of project tracking databases to gather the information they need. This tool has the ability to summarize current and historic monitoring activities and can assist in coordinating future activities. It should be noted that the intent is not for PNAMP to host a system of record for all monitoring location information in the region, much less monitoring data, but instead to host a tool that has the ability to display a comprehensive list of location information from other systems. Additionally, this tool can help users identify where monitoring may be adequate, deficient, or excessive. By allowing agencies to view where monitoring has already taken place, this tool can also help minimize redundancy in monitoring efforts.Development of Monitoring Explorer has been sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Aquatic Monitoring Partnership (PNAMP) and is maintained at https://www.monitoringresources.org/Sites/Explorer/Index by Sitka Technology Group. It currently includes locations for the US Forest Service Aquatic and Riparian Effectiveness Monitoring Program (AREMP), Bonneville Power Administration's Columbia Habitat Monitoring Program (CHaMP), Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's (ODEQ) Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Program, the National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA) in Oregon, the US Forest Service PACFISH/INFISH Biological Opinion Effectiveness Monitoring Program (PIBO), and Washington State Department of Ecology's Watershed Health and Salmon Recovery (WHSR) Monitoring Program.
