Vermont Geological Survey Collection of Groundwater Chemistry Data

Comprehensive groundwater chemistry data from ~200 bedrock wells in the central Vermont towns of Hinesburg, Williston, Bristol, Charlotte, Craftsbury, Calais, Marshfield, Plainfield, Stowe, and Waterbury and counties of Rutland and Bennington un southwestern Vermont. Parameters analyzed included Gross Alpha, Aluminum, Antimony, Arsenic, Barium, Beryllium, Cadmium, Calcium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Iron, Lead, Magnesium, Manganese, Mercury, Molybdenum, Nickel, Potassium, Selenium, Silver, Sodium, Strontium, Thallium, Total Hardness, Uranium, Vanadium, Zinc, Chloride, Nitrate, Phosphorous, Silica, Sulfate, Alkalinity, and Fluoride.

Material is available upon request only from data providers. Some data is availble in publications and in Middlebury College student theses.


These data were collected to screen wells in field areas for contaminants such as Arsenic, Uranium, Gross Alpha, Nitrate, and Fluoride.


This groundwater geochemical data was collected and analyzed through a collaborative relationship between the Vermont Geological Survey and the Middlebury College Geology Dept. Data were produced by the Vermont Dept. of Environmental Conservation and Vermont Dept. of Health labs. Permission from data providers is required.
