Purpose

The annual survey of bald eagles in Oregon and the Washington portion of the Columbia River Recovery Zone has been a cooperative effort by numerous agencies for over two decades. It was developed and implemented in response to a need to track the status and trends of the bald eagle population, as required by the Endangered Species Act. Data from this long-term cooperative effort are expected to provide information needed to monitor changes in the distribution, occupancy, success, and productivity of breeding bald eagles in Oregon and parts of Washington.
