Summary

Explanation: Using National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) and National Elevation Dataset (NED) information, USGS researchers can easily visualize the effects of topography and various geomorphic features on satellite-derived land surface cover for large extents of terrain. This poster shows the NLCD data merged with the NED surface expression and augmented by anaglyphic offsets to produce a three-dimensional perception for New Mexico. The NLCD information was compiled circa 1992 from Landsat Thematic Mapper imagery at 30-meter resolution. The 30-meter NED data was assembled from 2,111 USGS 7.5-minute Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and extracted from the database in July, 2000.
