"This metadata record describes the .5-foot pixel resolution digital orthoimagery produced for SNWA in 2014. The imagery was collected using an UltraCam Eagle digital camera systems from March - April of 2014. The orthoimagery was produced using Sanborn's proprietary processing system. The orthoimagery is provided 4-band, 8-bits per pixel and delivered in section tiles in uncompressed TIFF format. To display the images in natural color view bands 1 (red), 2 (green), 3 (blue). To display a CIR image view bands 4 (NIR), 1(red), 2 (green). Each orthophoto tile covers an area of approximately one square mile with approximately 50 feet of tile overlap. "Digital orthoimagery is provided to SNWA to serve as a basemap for GIS applications. The orthoimagery serves a variety of purposes such as planning, map production, and photo interpretation. The digital orthophoto can be used alone or as a raster basemap for corresponding vector line mapping." A digital orthoimage is a geometrically accurate photographic record of landscape conditions at the time of the corresponding aerial photography. As such, High Resolution Orthoimagery is useful for a variety of applications, such as environmental monitoring, facility engineering/maintenance, city/county planning, property line review, etc. The digital orthoimage can be used alone or as a raster basemap for corresponding vector line mapping. The detailed focus of High Resolution Orthoimagery provides emergency responders critical information in determining the best evacuation routes, alternative routes and safe access to aid. High Resolution Orthoimagery assists law enforcement personnel in determining the best locations to place surveillance cameras in high-traffic urban areas and popular attractions. The data assists Federal, State and local emergency responders in planning for homeland security efforts. This data also supports The National Map.
