Collection of Coal Exploration Core Hole Logs from TN


This core hole log collection consists of written descriptions of lithologies encountered during the drilling phase of various coal exploration programs in Tennessee. Descriptions range from detailed to brief. Information obtained primarily from diamond core drilling with additional information from rotary drilling and e-logs. Assorted drill hole depths range from tens of feet to thousands of feet deep. Logs are grouped by quadrangle location. Individual drill holes are located by Tennessee Coordinates (NAD 27). Quadrangles with numerous drill holes have drill hole location maps. The Tennessee Geological Survey is currently entering these drill hole logs into the USGS National Coal Resources Data System (NCRDS). As of 2015, 3110 [...]
