GAP - Reptile Species Richness Map

Summary

This service map provides a reptile species richness in the U.S. which is derived from the USGS Gap Analysis Program’s (GAP) national reptile ranges dataset. The map represents the total number of reptile species summarized by 12-digit hydrological units (HUCs). Light blue HUCs have the lowest number of species while red HUCs have the highest.

Purpose

The mission of the USGS Gap Analysis Program (GAP) is to provide state, regional and national assessments of the conservation status of native vertebrate species and natural land cover types and to facilitate the application of this information to land management activities.
