The purpose of this thesis was to assess the recreational use and management needs of the Mountain and Keele River systems, Sahtu region, Northwest Territories. A survey was conducted in 1994 and 1995 to determine current levels of use on the rivers, the characteristics of river users, the level of community involvement in river recreation and the need for management controls. While the rivers of the Sahtu are not presently threatened by current levels of use, the number of river users is increasing at a slow, steady pace.
