Summary

Use of radar altimetry for measuring fresh water systems is a blossoming area of research that has great potential to develop science’s understanding of this precious human resource. The field of satellite altimetry has benefitted from enormous gains since the 1970s. With the launch of GEOS 3 in 1975, humanity began a quest to achieve an understanding of the hydrosphere on a scale previously thought impossible.
