Summary

Index No. MRTN100500; Nolan Collection; Location taken from Tonopah Extension Mine shaft; Glassy contact phase of WER. The groundmass is light gray and highly silicified and altered to quartz-adularia and sericite. A few well-defined quartz-adularia veins occur bordered by thin bands of silicification. Some feldspar phenocrysts may have been present, but they are altered to quartz-sericite, sometimes with carbonate. Pyrite occurs in bunches and aggregates of small crystals with quartz.; Formation: West End Rhyolite; Collector: Thomas B. Nolan
