Kansas water-use data are collected on an annual basis by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources (DWR), as part of this agency’s role in managing water rights and water resources in Kansas (http://agriculture.ks.gov/water-use-reporting/). The Kansas Water Office (KWO) uses the data in its programs involving water planning, water conservation, water assurance districts, and water marketing (http://www.kwo.org/).
Annual data releases of Kansas public-supply (municipal) and irrigation water-use data are prepared by the USGS, DWR, and KWO.
