Digital orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a digital image with the geometric qualities of a map. The primary dynamic digital orthophoto is a 50 centimeter ground resolution, image cast to the customer specified projection and datum defined in the Spatial Reference Information section of this metadata document. The overedge is included to facilitate tonal matching for mosaicking and ensure full coverage if the imagery is reprojected. The normal orientation of data is by lines (rows) and samples (columns). Each line contains a series of pixels ordered from west to east with the order of the lines from north to south. DigitalGlobe WorldView-2 Satellite Orthoimagery was delivered to USDA in GeoTIFF file format. USDA created a composite mosaic in Erdas Imagine format using ERDAS 2011. ERDAS 2011 was used to produce a compressed file format data file called Erdas Compressed Wavelet (ECW). ECW is a compressed file formats that is much smaller than the orginal ERDAS Imagine files. The ECW compressed files is delivered with a separate FGDC compliant metadata file. The ECW file contains eight Multi-Spectral bands. Band 1: Coastal Blue (400 - 450 nm) Band 2: Blue (450 - 510 nm) Band 3: Green (510 - 580 nm) Band 4: Yellow (585 - 625 nm) Band 5: Red (625 - 690 nm) Band 6: Red Edge (705 - 745 nm) Band 7: Color Infrared 1/NIR 1 (770 - 895 nm) Band 8: Color Infrared 2/NIR 2 (860 - 1040 nm)" An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. There is no image overlap between adjacent files. Data received at EROS were verified as: Projection: NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_04N Resolution: 0.5000m Type: Natural Color - 3-band - 8 bit and resampled to align to the USNG. The naming convention is based on the U.S. National Grid (USNG), taking the coordinates of the SW corner of the orthoimage. Data were compressed utilizing IAS software. The compression was JPEG2000 Lossy Compressed. The file format created was .jp2.
