Purpose

This database was initiated, designed, and populated to compile and integrate geochemical data from samples collected by the USGS from the Mesoproterozoic igneous rocks of the St. Francois Mountains of southeastern Missouri and the contained iron oxide ore deposits in order to facilitate geologic mapping, petrologic studies, mineral resource assessments and favorability, definition of geochemical baseline values and statistics, and to identify areas of anomalous concentrations of metals. This Microsoft Access database serves as a data warehouse in support of present and future geologic and geochemical projects involving precious and critical metals in this and similar deposit types, and contains data tables describing historical and new quantitative and qualitative geochemical analyses.
