Plant life growing on a boulder of Black Hand Sandstone of the Cuyahoga Formation at Broken Rock Falls in the Old Man's Cave section of Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking County, Ohio. Below Old Man's Cave, about a 1/2 mile above the Lower Falls, a small creek enters the gorge from a narrow slot called Broken Rock Falls. The large piles of boulders that have accumulated beneath the falls are an example of the forces that affected the development of the Old Man's Cave gorge area. Bedrock is from the Mississippian Geologic Period.
