Summary

The excavation site of a mastodon found on the farm belonging to Rolland Farrington north of Somerville in York Township, Union County, Ohio. The mastodon remains, shown in the peat bog, were determined to be from a juvenile animal. The mastodon (Mammut americanum) specimen was in good condition and one of the more complete mastodon specimens found in Ohio. The image was taken by Carl W. Albrecht on October 1, 1970. The location given is approximate to the excavation site.
