The San Juan cluster is named for San Juan Province in Argentina. There is no dominant event or sequence, just a collection of 48 small and moderate-sized events over the period 1978-2013. Even though they are not observed at far-regional or teleseismic distances, the smaller events are retained in order to provide a solid framework for depth control, velocity structure and good azimuthal coverage for the hypocentroid.
